There is an area of the Grand Rapids Community Media Center and GRTV that you may have never heard of, but could provide you and your organization with an invaluable service.

Community Media Services, or CMS, is a division of GRTV that specializes in creating quality video productions of all types exclusively for nonprofits, at a cost that is substantially lower than commercial production companies.

Community Media Services was added to GRTV in 1998 to provide member organizations of the Community Media Center with a quicker, cost-effective alternative for those who didn't want to take the time to become a 'do-it yourselfer,' learning how to produce professional quality presentations. Since inception, CMS staff have taken on a wide variety of projects, from simple single camera event recordings to complex multi-camera productions and long form documentaries.

“As the show producer of the Manistee Victorian Sleighbell Parade, I worked closely with the staff of CMS to telecast the parade from downtown Manistee," said Dave Mix. “They have done a fantastic job three years running within a limited budget, giving this unique event exposure on cable stations throughout Michigan and live streaming on the web."

The largest example of video production work is the Meijer State Games of Michigan Opening Ceremony for the West Michigan Sports Commission. Community Media Services has also worked with Spectrum Health Healthier Communities on a video on the dangers of e-cigs for GRPS elementary school students, according to Wayne Glatz, Community Media Center's producer/director/media program manager.

Our staff come from the commercial production world, so quality and creativity are never compromised. Give us a call when planning your next video production, at 616-459-4788 extension 121 or email [email protected] or [email protected]. We would be happy to design and quote a project for you.
