On Sunday, October 2, 2016, Artists Creating Together will host the ACT Creative Lab in partnership with ArtPrize Labs at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market to celebrate the arts and inclusion in the Grand Rapids community.

As an ArtPrize Labs partner, ACT’s goal is to bring children and families to ArtPrize and give them a unique art experience. ACT’s mission is to serve people with disabilities through the arts, so ACT Creative Lab activities are designed for people of all ages and all abilities to have fun and find success. This event is supported by a fund in memory of long time ACT volunteer Karen Rashewsky, who passed away in May of this year. Rashewsky's family asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Artists Creating Together programming.

“ArtPrize highly values Artists Creating Together's work within our community,” said ArtPrize Education Manager Becca Guyette. “We are thrilled to partner for a second year to provide quality hands-on creative programs to school groups and families so people of all abilities can create and explore at ArtPrize."

Throughout the day, families can participate in a variety of sensory and make-and-take activities at the Downtown Market. Attendees can also have their faces painted by a professional artist and watch a live music performance by ACTion Drummers, ACT’s performing drum troupe.

“The Downtown Market aims to provide impactful education and resources accessible to all,” said Mimi Fritz, president and CEO of the Downtown Market. “ACT’s inclusive and creative programming fits that theme well, and we look forward to partnering with them on this fun art event each year during ArtPrize.”

This family event is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. Families are encouraged to drop in throughout the day from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market, 435 Ionia Ave SW, Grand Rapids. To learn more, visit www.artistscreatingtogether.org/artprize.
