Four City officials and staff will be retiring at the end of the year. To thank them for their work, a retirement party is being held on Wednesday, December 16 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at DeVos Place. Mayor George Heartwell, Secretary to the Mayor Jane Bush and Commissioners Elias Lumpkins and Walt Gutowski, Jr. will all be celebrated at this joint retirement party, open to the public.

Bush, with 31 years of service to the City of Grand Rapids, leads the number of years served, with Heartwell departing after 12 years. Lumpkins is retiring after nine years, and Gutowski after eight. Combined, the four City leaders represent 60 years of service to the citizens of Grand Rapids.

Attendees of the celebration, which will be held in the DeVos Place Gallery Outlook (303 Monroe NW), are encouraged to park in the Government Center Ramp, across the street from DeVos Place, and bring their parking ticket for validation.
