To give community members the opportunity to participate in the Heartside neighborhood and to spread holiday cheer along South Division (from Wealthy and Fulton), Dwelling Place hosted Deck the Avenue on December 1, 2009. It was the organization's first try at creating volunteer opportunities in the neighborhood, and 25 people responded, spending the afternoon distributing wreaths, hanging lights and adding festive paintings to business windows. In all, 13 businesses participated in the event.

This video provides a glimpse at my experience. As a volunteer, I had a great time spreading cheer in the neighborhood with friends and colleagues.
