Youth experiencing homelessness share experiences of home, daily life, what they want the community to know through photos at a gallery-style art event at HQ.

For youth experiencing homelessness, there are few spaces where their voices are heard, valued, or respected. Over 525 young people have become members at HQ in the year and a half since opening, and many lament the lack of value their voices have in the community, and the lack of platform available to them to express themselves and their needs.

On Tuesday, May 3, from 7-10am, HQ will be hosting an art gallery-style viewing of the youths' photos for community leaders, elected officials (the guist list so far includes city comissioners and state representatives!) and press.

For more information, please contact Amy Hinman (yours truly!) at [email protected] or 616-406-3945.

HQ is a drop-in center for youth ages 14-24 who are experiencing unsafe/unstable housing. We are a safe place for youth to build relationships, access basic needs, community resources, and realize their dreams.
