American Bakery Fire Delays Opening Day

Underwriting support from:

The long awaited re-opening day for the American Bakery will have to wait. The Grand Rapids Fire Department was called to 712 Bridge St. NW this morning (Monday) around 7am to find a fire in progress at the landmark west side establishment.
According to bakery employees watching the fire from across the street, all necessary permits were secured late last week and today was to be opening day. Production actually started yesterday as the first batch of donuts were produced.
None of the witnesses provided information on the cause of the fire and there were no reported injuries.

I was so looking forward to some donuts today! What a tragedy!

Oh gosh what a disappointment! Were you on your way over for a morning snack when this happened?

Good work on the breaking news tackle!
