For the second year in a row, Arts In Motion Studios, a creative arts school for individuals, is hosting Chair Affair. Chair Affair is an auction event which will feature over 25 uniquely hand painted chairs by artists from all over Michigan. The chairs range from practical and simple, such as the antique children' school chair painted in pastels, with a checkered boarder on it's seat- to elaborate and fanciful, like the beautiful and brightly colored  paper mache mermaid chair. Last year, the final bids on chairs were as varied as the chairs themselves. Patrons bid on chairs as affordable as $30 but were also as generous with their bidding as $300. And all funds raised will go to a good cause- Arts In Motion Studio currently provides opportunities for over 40 students to learn, develop, and showcase their artistic talents. The students then bring the results of their hard work into the community, sharing their passion, enthusiasm, and unique perspectives at various art events and festivals, throughout the year.

Last year, at Chair Affair 2011, there were amazing student dance performances,  live music, great food, a live auctioneer,  and around 70 people who came out to support the organization.  This year AIM is expecting even more: more chairs, more live performances, and a greater number of buyers. But the best part of this event, or any other AIM event, is the time it allows people to spend getting to know the students, as artists and people- anyone who likes the idea behind Arts In Motion grows to love the people behind it. Funny, warm, welcoming, and insightful, the artists of AIM make each event their own.

Chair Affair 2012 will take place on November 10th, from 6-10pm, at the Arts In Motion studio. The studio is located in the Blackport building, off of Diamond, near the corner of Diamond and Lake.
