Clips Beer & Film Tour

Friday, June 27, 2014

8:30 to 11:30 p.m.

Ah-Nab-Awen Park

220 Front Ave NW
Grand Rapids MI 49504

The Greater Grand Rapids Bicycle Coalition (GGRBC) is pleased once again to partner with New Belgium Brewing for the upcoming Grand Rapids Clips Beer & Film Tour from 8:30-11:30 p.m. Friday, June 27, in Ah-Nab-Awen Park, 220 Front Ave. NW (on the riverbank in front of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum). This beer-toting, film-traveling, nonprofit-benefiting show will travel coast-to-coast during 2014 (its fifth season), with stops in twenty-one hip cities, including Miami, Austin and Seattle. This is the second consecutive year in which New Belgium has selected Grand Rapids as a hosting city for Clips and the event serves as the only tour stop in Michigan.

Clips is a free event and all proceeds from beer, merchandise and raffle ticket sales at the June 27 date benefit GGRBC’s Room to Ride campaign. Raffle ticket prizes on June 27 include a New Belgium Brewing Fat Tire Cruiser (made by Felt) and a locally-made, custom-built 616 Bicycle Fabrication Fat Bike. Since its inception in 2010, Clips Beer & Film Tour has raised nearly $370,000 for nonprofits nationwide. The 2013 Grand Rapids Clips Beer & Film Tour generated $13,500 for GGRBC.

Clips offers a venue where guests can try New Belgium’s more esoteric beer offerings, while watching short films created by New Belgium fans. Up to 18 beer varieties will be on tap, including some of the more hard-to-come-by beers from the Lips of Faith series, as well as brewery classics.

New Belgium beers will be available in 3-ounce samples or a 12-ounce pour. Served up by GGRBC volunteers, there's plenty of fun to be had alongside a host of traveling tricks and contests. Food from local vendors also will be available. Complimentary bike valet service will be provided by GGRBC. New Belgium selects approximately 20 short films for the tour each season from an online film competition. During each stop, New Belgium tries to leave as little of an environmental footprint as possible. Since its inception, Clips has diverted 85 percent of event waste from landfills. New Belgium has partnered locally with The High Five Program to ensure a sustainable Grand Rapids tour stop.
