Treat yourself to free music, fresh air, fun this summer

Every weeknight all summer, there are multiple opportunities to listen to free music in the Grand Rapids area. Pack a picnic and head out to one of the many listed here.

This summer there are many options for free outdoor music in Grand Rapids and surrounding townships. There are different offerings depending on the night of the week. But if you can't make it one week, all listed events are recurring on the same weekday throughout the summer.

Most of these events guarantee family-friendly entertainment. Some also provide food vendors and other activities in addition to live music. Check out the websites associated with each event for further information.

 

Mondays

Jazz at the Zoo 

John Ball Park Bandshell, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Jazz music and food vendors. 

 

Tuesdays

Beckering Family Carillon Series

Lacks International Plaza, 12:00-1:00 p.m.

401 W Fulton St., Grand Rapids

Performances by various carillonneurs. 

Tuesday Evening Music Club

Frederik Meijer Gardens, 7:00 p.m.

1000 East Beltline Ave NE, Grand Rapids

Performances by various local and regional musicians. Included with admission or free to Meijer Gardens members.

United Bank's Concerts In The Park

John Collins Park, 7:00 p.m.

650 Lakeside Dr SE, East Grand Rapids

Family-friendly bands and activities for children.

'Concerts In The Park' Series

Lamar Park, 7:00 p.m.

2561 Porter Street SW, Wyoming

Family-friendly bands. Some nights include food vendors and activities for children. 

'Music on the Lawn' Summer Concert Series

Averill Historical Museum, 7:00 p.m.

7144 Headley Street, Ada

Performances by a variety of different bands including jazz, classic rock, pop, folk and bluegrass. 

Swing Dancing

Rosa Parks Circle, 7:00-10:00 p.m.

100 ​ Monroe Center, Grand Rapids

Swing dancing. Some dates feature live music. 

 

Wednesdays

Wednesday Night Market

Fulton Street Farmers Market, 4:00-7:30 p.m.

1147 E. Fulton Street, Grand Rapids

Vendors remain open late, accompanied by live music. 

Blues on the Mall

Rosa Parks Circle, 6:30 p.m.

100 ​ Monroe Center, Grand Rapids

Various blues acts. 

 

Thursdays

Celadon Summer Concert Series

Celadon New Town Amphitheater, 6:00 p.m.

2050 Celadon Dr, Grand Rapids

Family-friendly music and food vendors.

GRAM on the Green

Grand Rapids Art Museum Terrace, 6:30 p.m.

101 Monroe Center NW, Grand Rapids

Performances by a variety of different bands. Outdoor games, food vendors, cash bar and free museum admission also available. 

Standale Summer Concert Series

Walker Community Park, 7:00-9:00 p.m.

700 Cummings Ave NW, Walker

Family-friendly music, food vendors and activities for children.
