If fickle weather conditions have you worried if you'll still be able to skate with your favorite Grand Rapids Griffins this weekend, rest assured.

The Great Skate Winterfest will be taking place as planned.

According to festival co-organizer Lynn Rabaut, the ice at Rosa Parks Circle is expected to be fine for the Great Skate, which takes place from 10 p.m. Saturday through 10 p.m. Sunday.

Rabaut communicated this information late Friday morning.

Rabaut also said that Saturday's Winterfest activities are set, pending weather. Many of the Winterfest activities take place off the ice, so area residents are encouraged to attend regardless of weather conditions.

Rabaut is executive director of the Grand Rapids Griffins Youth Foundation, which the Great Skate Winterfest benefits.

A full schedule of activities for the Great Skate Winterfest is available here.
