The purpose of the Press Club at the Cook Arts Center is to provide youth in the Grandville Avenue neighborhood with the opportunity to find, develop and share their creative voices. Avelycia is a member of the GAAH Press Club, and below is the autobiography she wrote from a third-person perspective.

Avelycia O. is a cool, funky, active girl and who is a cub reporter at the GAAH Press Club.  She lives in Grand Rapids, MI, loves to write, play soccer, swim, and loves to be the next big thing.  Avelycia has 4 nicknames. They’re Avey, Avelic (A-ve-lis), Yesenia, and Peanut Butter because she likes to say that word.

The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.

We need your help.

If each of our readers and content creators who values this community platform help support its creation and maintenance, The Rapidian can continue to educate and facilitate a conversation around issues for years to come.

Please support The Rapidian and make a contribution today.
