But there’s no dispute that Friday, June 3 marks one of the year’s sweetest celebrations: National Doughnut (Donut) Day. This annual rite of sugar-infused bliss is where doughnut lovers come together to rejoice in their shared passion, find cheap eats and commemorate a U.S. holiday created by The Salvation army in 1938 to honor those of their members who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.

Many national doughnut chains like Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme offer up mouthwatering discounts on National Doughnut Day. At The Rapid, however, we suggest checking out some local Grand Rapids doughnut mainstays that are guaranteed to provide gustatory pleasure at bargain prices. Marge’s Donut Den

Since 1975, Marge’s Donut Den has been churning out fantastic baked goods for the Greater Grand Rapids area. Loyal followers say this bakery has some of the best treats anywhere!
