On April 4, the Grand Rapids Downtown Market will host Lil Green Thumbs: Spring Break in the Greenhouse, a free event for kids and families, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Families looking for something fun to do with the kids during Spring Break can venture to the Market for the inside scoop on all things related to plants and bugs.

This all ages event will give kids the opportunity to participate in sensory activities including examining bugs up close with magnifying glasses in the “Bug Zone,” reading plant and nature books from Kent District Library and even making take-home greenhouse crafts including peanut butter bird feeders, plant pals and coffee filter butterflies.

“It may still be chilly outside, but escaping to a tropical climate is easy with a visit to our greenhouse,” said Amanda Gielczyk, director of marketing and special events. “Lil’ Green Thumbs is a fun way for families to explore the Market while having an educational and fun Spring Break.”
