Logan's Alley will be celebrating its 15 year anniversary from May 10 to May 15 with a week of brewery specialties and giving back to local nonprofits.

After kicking off the week by rolling back prices to their original 2000 amounts, Monday will feature The Rapidian as the beneficiary. On Monday, May 11, from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m., 15% of the day's sales will be donated to The Rapidian's Spring Fund Drive.

"When we look at what we wanted to do for our anniversary, just having a big party didn’t seem to fit," says Larry Zeiser, co-owner. "The idea to give back to the community came from a discussion with one of our distributors who was presenting us with an event that required a nonprofit be involved. With that I started thinking about all the people I know who have been involved with Logan's over the years and have missions that fit with the ideals that my business partner Brian Giampapa and I set in place when we started. From there we chose a couple nonprofits based on those parameters and the others based on our beliefs in supporting the local community- thus The Rapidian, Midtown [Neighborhood Association] and The Children’s Assessment Center."

Logan's Alley has often supported The Rapidian, with donations of gift certificates as well as a previous Night Out for The Rapidian.

"My interest started with some of my staff who over the years have been avid readers and supporters," says Zeiser. "From there I just got excited that there was group of people out there who took the time out to write about topics that are often looked over by the traditional press organizations. Grassroots can make a huge difference, and how all great movements or necessary change start."

Each day of the celebration will feature a different nonprofit and and a different brewery specialty.

On May 10, Patron's Day, prices will be rolled back to the original May 10, 2000 prices. Monday, May 11, features The Mitten Brewing Company and The Rapidian. On Tuesday, May 12 Logan's Alley is pairing up The Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce's Center for Community Leadership and Founder's Brewing Co., and on Wednesday May 13, the Children's Assessment Center and Bell's Brewery Inc.. Then on Thursday, May 14, Logan's Alley is highlighting Leading for Our Kids and Shorts Brewing Company, and is wrapping things up on Friday, May 15 with support for the Midtown Neighborhood Association, pairing them with and Deschutes Brewery.

The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.
