On Monday, December 3, from open to close, the Pyramid Scheme will be taking 20% of your beer. In fact, they'll be taking 20% right off the top of whatever you order.

That's because on that one special night, 20% of your purchases will be donated in support for The Rapidian.

Generously hosting the second Night Out for The Rapidian, Pyramid Scheme is dedicated to supporting us with a fun, easy way for Rapidian supporters to help our sustainability efforts.

Rapidian staff will be available from 5 to 10 p.m. to answer questions, hand out Rapidian pins, and take donations for those who would like to donate above and beyond the percentage coming from their tab.

On November 5, The Rapidian's first Night Out was hosted by Red Jet Cafe. Red Jet donated $307.81 from one evening of sales, and donations from supporters brought our total support for the one night to just under $500.

This December, we'd like to challenge our supporters to bring that total to $1000- just double our first night's event. Inviting friends to the event, adding a small extra donation online or at the event and spreading the word on your social media circles... all of these will help us reach our goal.

The Rapidian, a proud service of the Community Media Center, was started thanks to generous grants from the Knight Foundation and our local Grand Rapids Community Foundation, but those grants have now ended.

We need your help to keep The Rapidian going.

The Rapidian provides a platform for all voices in Grand Rapids, sharing local news, information and perspectives by empowering anyone in the community to become a citizen journalist. Citizen journalists are provided with tools, training and individual mentors to help them along the way-and in return they provide us with all sorts of stories about what is going on in our own community.

We're looking forward to seeing you all out and helping us keep community news available in the greater Grand Rapids area. Come on down and say "hi" -and don't forget to thank Pyramid Scheme for their generous support of our efforts!

The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.

We need your help.

If each of our readers and content creators who values this community platform help support its creation and maintenance, The Rapidian can continue to educate and facilitate a conversation around issues for years to come.

Please support The Rapidian and make a contribution today.
