It is about empowering the people with a platform to tell their neighborhood story. The Rapidian is dedicated to putting news in the hands of the people and that is a beautiful thing. Grand Rapids citizens no longer have to wait and hope that their story, event, or cause has value and is picked up by local media outlets. All things and all people have value and now we have the tools to communicate and share that value with our neighbors, the broader community and the world.

LINC has been afforded the opportunity to partner with the Rapidian to launch the LINC News Bureau, lifting up the voice of the community on the Southeast side of Grand Rapids. Everyone we reach out to is eager for this opportunity to be heard and join others in the effort to tell the complete story of their community.

Our first and most active reporter is Ms. Gwendolyn Nathan. In her second piece she shared her perspective as a rider of the Rapid transit system. The story was a hit and actually got picked up by the Rapid's "Get on Board" blog. When reflecting on this Ms. Gwen shared, "You have given me the incentive to make me want to write and write." and she is!

Some of our favorite things about the Rapidian are its user-friendliness and versatility. The interface is simple and at the same time offers numerous ways to share information. Content is not limited to one type of media and offers the reporters room for creativity. This hyper-local news source is a great asset to our community. We are committed to ensuring that it is around for the long haul and hope you are too.

The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.

We need your help.

If each of our readers and content creators who values this community platform help support its creation and maintenance, The Rapidian can continue to educate and facilitate a conversation around issues for years to come.

Please support The Rapidian and make a contribution today.
