BETHANY CHRISTIAN SERVICES INVITES YOU TO STRIDE & RIDE WITH REFUGEES

A 5K WALK & 20K BIKE RIDE TO BENEFIT REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT

Join the Journey.

Grand Rapids, MI., Saturday, September 15, 2012 Bethany Christian Services, the nation’s premier family preservation and adoption agency, invites you to participate in this fun family and community event held to benefit refugee resettlement.

Bethany Christian Services is a global nonprofit organization delivering compassionate and professional services in family preservation; helping children, women, and families for over 65 years. Bethany’s Refugee Services helps more than 300 refugees resettle each year in Grand Rapids and beyond. The resettlement program works in collaboration with local churches, volunteers, and service providers to ensure refugee families a safe and smooth transition into their home of West Michigan. Services are given from their arrival at the airport until they are able to thrive as self-sufficient and contributing members of society. These services include housing, medical assistance, ESL training, job training, and help in securing employment.

Bethany’s Stride & Ride with Refugees, to be held on Saturday, September 15 at Bowen Station Park in Kentwood, Michigan, will raise funds to help refugee families with resettlement costs, educational opportunities, home furnishings, and medical needs. Contributions will also be used for Refugee Foster Care Youth; assisting refugee youth who are taking their first steps towards independence. Mars Hill Bible Church and Church of the Nazarene are partnering with Bethany to host this event. Last year, Bethany’s refugees, refugee resettlement and foster care employees, and other community leaders formed teams of riders and striders and raised more than $15,000. This year’s event goal is to raise more than $20,000. Event registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with Stride & Ride beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Please join us! Join the journey by becoming a team captain, joining a team, or sponsoring a walker/rider. To register for Stride & Ride, contribute to our mission, or sponsor this inspiring event, please contact Kathleen Law at 616.965.8069.
