The weather is finally warming and it’s planting time! This growing season, urban agriculture nonprofit, Urban Roots and low-cost housing provider, Well House are joining forces to bring the community a 3-day plant sale event. Get all you need to start your garden and support two amazing organizations!

From May 23rd to May 25th, gardeners of all stripes will find thousands of healthy vegetable and herb plants ranging from broccoli and zucchini to parsley and thyme to start their veggie gardens or herb pots. Seeds will also be available. This is a sale where you know that the plants you purchase are grown organically, without pesticides, and are non-GMO.

Plants will be available for $1-$4 each. As always, extra donations are greatly appreciated. All proceeds go toward funding the Well House / Urban Roots Community Partnership.

Urban Roots Founder and Executive Director, Levi Gardner, comments, “We are excited to bring our growing expertise to what has been a successful event for each organization. But the really great thing is that by partnering, we are able to offer additional programming that engages a larger audience in hands-on training in growing and the basics of horticulture. Participants in this new program will gain marketable job skills in urban agriculture."

Well House and Urban Roots, both 501(c)(3) nonprofits, share missions that incorporate access to healthy, affordable food. Well House maintains several plots and a community farm near its houses. Urban Roots has a Community Market where people will find whole, mostly local, food at affordable prices. Plants will be available at the Community Market after the sale.
