In this week’s segment of GRTV’s NPO Showcase, Diane Brown, President and longtime volunteer of the Santa Claus Girls, explains how you can help give a gift to a Kent County child in need this holiday season.
Santa Claus Girls is a completely volunteer-run organization that is supported by the Grand Rapids Press. Each year, volunteers raise funds, answer phones, buy and wrap gifts, knit hats and mittens, and deliver gifts to children’s homes in time for the holidays. Santa Claus Girls has been doing this work since 1908.
This year, the gift delivery date is December 17. Over 300 volunteer drivers are needed to help deliver gifts to over 15,000 children throughout the county. You can also support the program with a monetary donation given online or over the phone, or by donating hats, mittens, or yarn.
Watch the NPO Showcase segment above to learn more about the impact you can make on a child’s life this holiday season by volunteering and supporting the Santa Claus Girls. You can also sign up to volunteer, send a donation, or register a child in need on their website.
Check back next Wednesday for a new segment of GRTV’s NPO Showcase, featuring the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan.
