About NPO Showcase

NPO Showcase highlights nonprofit and government organizations that improve the quality of life in our city and throughout our community. The program is a feature of GRTV and the Community Media Center, with producer and host Julie Way. You can catch it on GRTV on Saturdays at 8 AM and 6 PM and can view past episodes on the Grand Rapids Community Media Center website. If your nonprofit would like to be interviewed on NPO Showcase, please contact Julie Way.

This segment of NPO Showcase features the Kent County Free Preschool Campaign, a partnership of many educational and community organizations who have come together to provide free preschool for families in need.

Judy Freeman, Director of the Great Start Collaborative of Kent County and a partner of the campaign, joins us in studio to discuss the importance of quality preschool and the free preschool campaign. Families can qualify for free preschool based on income or other factors such as special needs. There are still free preschool slots available and parents should call as soon as possible to find out if they qualify and to reserve a spot for their child. To learn more and to speak with an intake specialist to get signed up, please visit http://freepreschoolkent.org/ or call 616-447-2409.

The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.

We need your help.

If each of our readers and content creators who values this community platform help support its creation and maintenance, The Rapidian can continue to educate and facilitate a conversation around issues for years to come.

Please support The Rapidian and make a contribution today.
