In this week’s segment of GRTV’s NPO Showcase, Jennie Nichols, Church Relations Coordinator for Operation Christmas Child, discusses this outreach ministry of Samaritan’s Purse.
Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational Christian organization that provides aid to people around the world. Through Operation Christmas Child, people can pack up a shoebox gift that will be sent to children in need for Christmas and throughout the year.
To participate, you decide whether you want to pack a shoebox for a boy or a girl, and then fill the shoebox with small gifts, hygiene items and school supplies. Operation Christmas Child asks that you also provide $7 to cover the shipping, which also allows you to track your shoebox and learn its final destination.
National collection week is November 14-21, and you can check out the Operation Christmas Child website for drop-off locations. November 21 is the final deadline to ensure that your shoebox gift arrives by Christmas. Shoeboxes are packed and sent throughout the year as well, and is a fun activity for families or groups.
Watch the NPO Showcase segment above to learn how you can get involved here locally to help a child in need across the world this Christmas and throughout the year. You can also learn more about the program on the Samaritan’s Purse website.
Check back next Wednesday for a new segment of GRTV’s NPO Showcase, featuring the Veteran’s Support program through Disability Advocates of Kent County.
