The Avenue for the Arts presents the First Friday Gallery Hop on Friday May 2 from 6-9 p.m. This multi-venue, Friday night destination includes art exhibitions, sales on hand-made goods, drink specials and more. Park around the corner, peruse local artwork, pick up a new record, grab a drink and catch a movie. You can find it all on the Avenue during First Friday, just look for the “We Are a First Fridays Venue” signs in the windows.

Every venue has visit-worthy sales, specials and artwork on view, but this month, we're showcasing local artist Steven Rainey at Craft House. Steve’s a printmaker at Dinderbeck Studios and a MFA candidate at Kendall College of Art and Design. Steve’s going to ‘hang from the rafters’ and bring the house down with his installation-based exhibition. We’re also thrilled to welcome Propaganda Doughnuts and Local Epicurean to the event line-up. And finally, catch an indie flick at the UICAThe Retrieval plays at 5:30 p.m. and Finding Vivian Maier plays at 8 p.m.

First Fridays includes a wide variety of galleries, shops and other businesses including Parliament the Boutique, Vertigo Music, Have Company and Sanctuary Folk Art. A complete listing of venues and parking information can be found on the Avenue for the Arts website, or join in on Facebook

Can’t make it this week? Fear not, First Friday Gallery Hops take place every month with a rotating schedule of featured artists, events and specials.

Whether you’re having family night or hanging out with the gang, First Friday has something everyone will enjoy. Come relax, join in the excitement and see all that Downtown Grand Rapids has to offer. As always, First Friday is a free event. Come one come all.

First Friday and all Avenue for the Arts events are made possible through Dwelling Place. For more information regarding the event, please contact Amanda Carmer at 303-304-9320 or email the Avenue for the Arts, subject line: First Friday. You can also learn more about the event on Facebook.
