After a two-year long hiatus due to COVID-19, 88.1 FM WYCE is has announced the return of West Michigan’s biggest celebration of local and regional music. The 22nd Annual Jammie Awards, a free music and community event celebrating the incredible diversity of talented bands and musicians in Michigan, will take place at The Intersection in downtown Grand Rapids on Saturday, June 25th, 2022. This year’s Jammies celebration will feature over 20 live music acts at The Intersection, as well as a new Jammies pre-party concert featuring performances by two additional local acts (Jack Droppers & The Best Intentions + KJ & The Good Time Family Band) at The Listening Lawn at Studio Park.

Concert goers will experience new awards focused on the spirit of “collaboration over competition.” Shane German, WYCE's Music & Programming Manager stated that:

“As the region’s only volunteer-hosted community radio station, all of us at WYCE are excited to be able to bring this event back and celebrate the talented and diverse Michigan Music scene. We chose to forgo the competition element but will award the Listener’s Choice Award decided by public vote. Since there were two years’ worth of music submissions during a pandemic – we just wanted to make this Jammie Awards a celebration and not focus on competition, but community.”

WYCE is also partnering with the Michigan Music Alliance to present The Ovations. These new Ovation awards focus on community builders and celebrate their efforts to enrich a supportive, sustainable, engaging, and collaborative music scene in West Michigan.

WYCE will be collecting donations at the door for the benefit of the radio station. They will also continue their partnership with Feeding America West Michigan to collect non-perishable food items during the event for the local community.
