WYCE Station Manager Hayes Griffin is very excited:

“This is my first Jammies as Station Manager at WYCE and it is absolutely exhilarating to bring the community together for our 20th celebration of honoring the best music in West Michigan. With all four stages at the Intersection, 35 of the best local bands, and support from our generous community partners, this is sure to be the best Jammies yet!”

WYCE has also included a food drive at the Jammies for Feeding America West Michigan since 2010, and in that time the event has provided thousands of meals for local families.

“We are extremely fortunate to have a community partner like WYCE on our side, especially when it comes to collaborating on events like the Jammies.” Kenneth Estelle, President and CEO of Feeding America West Michigan adds: “The food and proceeds that are generated through the event help to sustain our operations through the remainder of the year. To have this fun, community-driven event where we get the opportunity to meet with residents of our service area and let them know what we’re all about is really special.”

The Jammie awards serves as a way to highlight, support, and celebrate local and underserved musicians in the community. For the first time in the event’s 20 year history there will be four stages of live music. The Mint stage will be open to the public to perform Open Mic style from 5:30PM-8PM. Scott Hammontree, Partner and Talent Buyer of The Intersection adds:

“We are extremely excited for this year’s installment of The Jammies. One of the first events that crossed my mind, in terms of utilizing the whole venue, was The Jammies and having all local artists on every stage in the building. It is always an honor to host The Jammies but to celebrate this year’s Anniversary by including even more groups will be amazing. Don’t miss it!”

WYCE programs an eclectic mix of music programmed by volunteers, public service announcements for nonprofits, and underwriting for businesses all year round. It is a 10,000 watt broadcast at 88.1 FM and streams online at WYCE.org. WYCE is a service of the Community Media Center and is dedicated to building community through media. Attendees are encouraged to come in their favorite pajamas. Station Manager Hayes Griffin adds:

“This event is really an annual opportunity for us to show the strength of our local music scene. Grand Rapids is a haven for musicians and music lovers, and the volunteers and staff at WYCE are beyond proud to serve the community.”
