Gallery 31, a new and unique art gallery and tattoo space in Grand Rapids overlooking the Grand River, invites you to their grand opening at 7:00pm on March 19th. This photography exhibit will feature selections from Sita Mae’s popular “Modern Primitives” series, as well as extensive selections from her body of figure work. Displayed exclusively on small pieces of aluminum, this pocket-size exhibit is an excellent opportunity for new collectors, gift-buyers, or simply appreciators of art to visit an accessible and interactive photography display.
About the artist: California native Sita Mae Edwards is an internationally exhibited and published portrait and figure photographer. Though new to exhibiting her work publicly, she has already shown in a dozen group exhibits in four different states, including The Dirty Show, Nude Night Tampa/Orlando and ArtPrize, as well as internationally at Photo Haus Gallery in Vancouver.
In recent print, Sita Mae was included in the January/February issue of French PHOTO Magazine, as well as two issues of UK’s Filament Magazine – including being featured on the January 2011 cover, along with a feature and interview inside.
One of the few photographers exhibiting her works almost exclusively on aluminum, her photography has been called “lush,” “fresh,” and “strong.” Sita Mae is represented by Streetwise Art.
