How do you interact with your kitchen, your phone and your office space? Discover how designers, makers and builders create the best possible user experience (UX) for people with the most common things around us at Midwest UX 2013, October 17-19.

The Midwest UX Conference is a three-day event run by volunteers.

“This is the go-to event for user experience designers and we’re excited that it’s moving from Columbus, Ohio, to debut in Grand Rapids this year,” says Midwest UX organizer Erik Dahl. “The theme of ‘Place’ is a perfect way to highlight West Michigan as the historical hub of the global furniture industry, and to show regional designers what this means with decades of influence by office furniture giants like Steelcase, Herman Miller and Haworth.”

Atomic Object vice president Shawn Crowley says a direct benefit of Midwest UX is the shared knowledge applied to new products developed by people who attend the event. “Atomic builds better software products by blending UX and agile practices,” he says. “Our support of Midwest UX aligns with our vision of making the Midwest, and specifically Michigan, a leader in innovation, design and technology.”

“We’re committed to humanizing business and technology experiences, so it’s our privilege to help host Midwest UX in Grand Rapids this year,” says Kevin Budelmann, co-founder and president of Peopledesign, one of the conference sponsors. “We look forward to learning together with this incredibly talented group of UX leaders and exploring the issues that lie ahead.”
