Cook, Eat & Talk Hands-on Cooking Series

Our Kitchen Table is hosting a free, hands-on healthy cooking series as part of its Women of Color Cook, Eat and Talk strategy. The classes are held twice daily, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays Oct. 13, 20, 27, Nov. 3, 10, & 17 at the Sherman Street Church kitchen, 1000 Sherman St. SE 49507. An additional canning workshop is being planned for Saturday Nov. 12 (details TBA). Facilitator Anja Mast is a chef, food entrepreneur, cooking coach and former farmer/owner of Trillium Haven Farm.

During the series, participants will have opportunity to:

·        See how to cook simple, healthy, affordable meals.

·        Discover strategies for smarter grocery shopping.

·        Join OKT’s Collective Whole Foods Purchase Group.

·        Learn about Food Justice in the Grand Rapids community.

Participants will receive a free cast iron skillet. The first 20 participants completing 6 of 8 sessions will also receive a free, small cooking appliance (excludes OKT staff and current OKT growers.)
